Supporting a student in their coursework usually starts with working through homework problems or reviewing exams together, but it doesn't end there. In the whiteboard excerpt below, a high school student and I first work through a homework problem on factoring polynomials, then tie the result to previously covered concepts: the rational root theorem, quadratic formula, and complex numbers.
In this portion of virtual whiteboard, a student and I work through an SAT practice question that I wrote, to provide extra practice in sketching geometry from a verbal description. (It also exercises other skill areas, of course.)
